Aberfeldy taking new album to SXSW

Just got back from a wild and wintry East Lothian coastal town clutching a one-track CD, "Whatever Turns You On", a track taken from Aberfeldy's new album which Calum Malcolm is putting the finishing touches to in his home studio.... I love it!

It's hotting up at Schoolhouse as Aberfeldy and myself prepare for what is always the most exciting time for any group and manager, the pending release of a new album and all that, that entails....I won't bore you with all the details but I can tell you the band will be playing at several venues during their time in Austin, Texas at SXSW, but we'll be putting the details up on the Aberfeldy site in the next few days.

Here's a picture of Robyn Hitchcock and Peter Buck at the ABC gig last month - just learning how to do this!

More pictures and stories soon....

Recent Gigs

Been going to lots of gigs over the last few weeks - the highlights being:

The ageless Robyn Hitchcock at the ABC in Glasgow who was in brilliant form playing with Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Bill Rieflin as 'Minus 3' producing an exquisite sound that brought back all the highs of psychedelic folk.

Tim Matthews (a man of many talents) fronting Mystery Juice at Bannermans in Edinburgh whose mixture of beatnik rap and electric violin was spellbinding.

My old pals Simple Minds at the Carling Academy, Glasgow, blowing away the cobwebs and showing they've lost none of their vitality and intensity with a set full of obscure favourites from the past mixed with highlights from their new album 'Black & White'. The audience was ecstatic.

Finally, at the Bongo Club last Thursday, 'Blofeldy' surprised and delighted a discerning audience with a set dominated by new songs which are currently being recorded for the new Aberfeldy album. The James Bond themed evening was one of those 'one-off' nights that just shouldn't have been missed. (Sorry if you did!)

That's all for now but I'll be back soon!
